TMC 2.0 is born, but will it find a place in the Sun?
It's official now, the Trinamul Congress (TMC) party has split, with the majority of 59 out of 80 MLAs opting out of the party founded and led by Mamata Banerjee.
A 26-year-old woman, an inmate of a privately run home, Satyabharati, at Nabagram, Uttarpara, lodged a complaint with Serampore women police station on Thursday, alleging physical abuse by the home’s owner, Ajay Chatterjee.

A 26-year-old woman, an inmate of a privately run home, Satyabharati, at Nabagram, Uttarpara, lodged a complaint with Serampore women police station on Thursday, alleging physical abuse by the home’s owner, Ajay Chatterjee.
Following the complaint, police arrested Chatterjee, the secretary and two employees of the home on Friday and produced them in Serampore Court today.

Ajay Chatterjee is a former Trinamul Congress (TMC) member of the Nabagram panchayat.

Apurba Majumdar, the current Trinamul president of the Nabagram area, said: “The young woman is very talented and is preparing for a government job. She first came to our party office with multiple complaints against the home owner. We advised her to lodge a complaint with the police.”
BJP’s Nabagram mandal president, Rajesh Rajak, said: “Previously, there had been many complaints against the home owner. Some inmates had alleged poor-quality food and misbehaviour by him. At last he has been arrested; if the allegations are true, the police should take strict action.”
